Starting out as a Central Ohio village more than a century ago, Bexley is a quant old historic, tree-lined suburb on the inner east of Columbus. The town is located along the banks of Alum Creek near Driving Park and Wolfe Park. To the east of Bexley is the Franklin Park Conservatory. Bexley is best known for its large historic estates and mansions, which are mostly located in the Bullitt Park area. It is the location of the home of the president of The Ohio State University. It is also where the Ohio Governor’s Mansion is located, which is in the northern part of Bexley. Today, Bexley is home to Capital University. The population is just under 14,000.
Along with other Franklin County municipalities such as Whitehall, Minerva Park, Upper Arlington, Worthington, and Valleyview, Bexley is considered a geographic enclave of Columbus. The city is split horizontally by Main Street, which still serves as a reminder of the city’s origins as a fusion between the eminent Bullitt Park and Pleasant Ridge, which was south of Main Street.
